It's like a weevil or something. Maybe I'm wrong with the weevil, but it's some little worm type thing. I've caught them inside the peppers before. I had a grasshopper eat a hole in a jalapeno once too. Which was interesting because there were plenty of nice leaves all around it.

I have had lots of peppers with holes this year and it is just a guess that it has to do with the sun and heat. Like sunscald. I have had a few with ants but when it is ants it usually has the ants still inside. I also noticed black spots inside the hole in your picks which has me thinking it is the sun.

I've had the same problem last year and this year. Nearest I can determine in my case is that it's caused by caterpillars. They just seem to bore the hole for the hell of it. Never found any eggs or larva in the damaged fruit. I have however found other opportunistic bugs that moved in after the fact; spiders, earwigs, etc.

Newbie jalapeno grower and experienced consumer here. I have been told that snails will do this... but keep in mind, I am a newbie grower. I saw this on some of my peppers this season and threw some snail/slug bait out. So far, no more problems. See a lot of snail shells (vacant) now though.

I have this problem with my peppers that aren't hot. I picked a cubanelle this morning and it had a black hole at the bottom. Cut it open and the earwigs have made a condo out of it. So far they have only messed with the banana and the cubans. They have left the jalapeno the serrano and the habaneos alone. Any idea of the best way to stop em? I think next season the mild peppers are going in the container garden where I can keep a better eye on them (and make room for more hot in ground Hehe)

This year my bhuts are in pots and seems first we had slugs, got rid of them now something is chewing holes in the leaves of the plants plus a holes in some of the peppers. We've had a lot of heat lately and I can't seem to find whatever it is that's munching my plants. The chewed leaves are not isolated to the bhuts, hot wax and others are lunch for bugs too.
