What kind of bottles are you using?

You can find stainles steel funnels in any size, according to the need. I don't bottle hot sauce, but if I did, I'd purchase some glass bottles with 'dasher' inserts, then some stainless funnels.

Thank you. I use typical hot sauce bottles, mostly recycled from hot sauce I buy at the store. I am currently using a funnel but it's slow going. Thought there might be a better way.

Use a funnel that will stay in place without holding it. That is the key....

Just cut the end off to a size that still fits the bottle
Surely you can find someone with a Drimel or hacksaw?
Harbor Freight sells the small hacksaws for just acouple bucks

Thanks for the help! I have a drimel and hacksaw I will give it a shot. Do you think a syringe or a frosting piping bag would work better? Maybe a turkey baster?

Don't rely on gravity. When you stick the funnel in, it creates a seal, so air is cut off. Kinda like when NOT opening the valve on a gas can.

Just take a spoon or spatula and stir the sauce in the funnel. This will allow air to work for you and they'll fill up in no time.

Scott: also, lift the funnel just slightly to break the seal around the bottle. More air, faster flow.

If it is a small lest batch I use a small funnel and turkey baster. Large batches I use the handy filler http://www.handyfiller.com/Welcome.html

Just use a funnel, fill it, and tap the side of the funnel with a spoon, and the stuff goes right in.

One is only required to be 2% smarter then what they are working with.

A good old-fashioned tin funnel with a folded seam is much better than these cheap plastic jobbers. The seam gives the air a way out. Fills much smoother and faster. YMWV.

Yeah, the funnel has to let the air get out. I stick a broken/bent tooth pick between the funnel and bottle's neck for the are to vent.
BTW: I use cheap plastic ones, Dennis ( I got it right this time). hehe

With a ziploc bag. Put the finished sauce in a ziploc bag, cut one of the bottom corners and use it like a piping bag to fill your bottles. Works great!

I am thinking about trying something like this, or a cake batter dispenser, or even a giant hand pump soap dispenser. A funnel works fine for small batches, but 50-100 bottles, not so much..

I think it all depends on the viscosity and chunkiness of the sauce.

bed bath and beyond has 2 packs of a heat resistant funnel that I use the smaller one from. works great with a normal 5oz woozy bottle (standard hot sauce bottle), as long as the sauce isn't ridiculously thick. and since I boil my funnel with the bottles in preparation for filling, being heat resistant is a plus.
