Identification of New Mexico wildflower?

lindseylu

Hello! I am trying to identify a New Mexico desert wildflower and can't seem to find it on the traditional sites. I will take a photo as soon as I can and post it, but meanwhile I'm guessing that someone out there will recognize the description without any picture!

This wildflower has orange, bell-shaped flowers that look like tiny hollyhocks. The flowers are about 1 inch in diameter. The numerous blooms grow on a very tall stalk; the shortest I've seen has been about 2 feet tall and the tallest has been over 6 feet tall! These plants grow on the side of the road all over most of Albuquerque (and a number of them have sprouted up in my back yard as well :) Does this sound familiar to anyone?

Thanks in advance if you can help!

Lindsey in Albuquerque, NM :)
