I often see it growing out in the county areas along the road on fence lines.

The one and only hardy one I grow is P. Caerulea on the deck rail. It is not as invasive like the native and can easily be pulled if you get too many. I have not had a problem with it. It usually stays green well into December.

Another good one is P. 'Incense'. It has purple flowers and a nice fragrance.

Oddly enough, my native passiflora did not come back this year -- after several years of trying to eat the world. Of course, that might have something to do with me pulling every vine I could find last summer. ;-)

I guess the one I am seeing must be P incarnata. Incarnata and lutea are the only two native Passifloras in Tennessee. The ones I am seeing are definitely aren't lutea.

Cannahavana, it looks like P caerulea is only marinally hardy around here. Have you kept it outside all winter?

No, the one I've been pulling up was incarnata. THAT one will take over everything if given much of a chance. It is all over the woods near my parents' house in Nashville.

The 'Incense' at UT is thriving, but not going much of anywhere. You can see it down in the herb garden. Some of the garden folks still call it incarnata, but it is not -- it's the 'Incense' variety. It's got different leaves and flowers than the straight incarnata.

Yes, it stays out all winter. The foliage stays green until December. Comes back every year!
