I wish you could buy...

I wish that these people that send me all these wonderful catalogues would offer just stuff that does well here in Texas. For example, I got one of just tomatoes. Wouldn't it be nice if they offered collections of heat tolerant varieties that do well in Texas? I'd like to try some of the interesting stuff I see in the catalogues, but I'm overwhelmed by the amount of research I'd have to do before ordering. Can't they make it easy?

What do you wish you could buy?

If you want I could send you coneflower seeds. I also have hollyhocks seeds & they are either pink / white. They do very well in drought areas & don't require lots of water. I have the color Pink. Just send me your address to-

After the horrible drought of 2011....I made a list of things that did well for me. You can get most any of these things at garden centers/nurseries or order and grow the seeds from Burpees, Parks, Thompson-Morgan, etc. The ARE stands for Antique Rose Emporium in Independence, Tx.

Use the Texas Smartscapes website to find plants that do well here.

For annuals, look at the Texas Superstar plant list: http://texassuperstar.com/

Both of these sites have plants listed that are proven to do well in most or all of Texas.
