if the price has anything to do with gas prices, it would make sense that they would fall as the summer ends due to the usual gas price spike we see during peak traveling months - the summer months.

The CME number ( Chicago Mercantile Exchange ) shows what what the market will expect to price to be in 8 weeks , its a future. but it may not translate into your quotes - depending your suppliers inventory etc

Lumber is typically at it's lowest in the winter. Why not wait until then. Better yet, wait for the next crash when lumber is close to an all-time low like it was in 2011-2012. If you are comfortable with the price then have it delivered and move on. If you are building a new house you will have bigger concerns then if you could have saved a few bucks by waiting 2 days to have the material delivered.
