Here is the awesome quilt my neices' grandmother made by hand

This is the quilt my neices' grandmother made for her new baby which is due in Feb.. Her grandmother passed away but she made sure she finished the quilt before she did.. She was just an awesome lady.. she made this all by hand.. she did not however, make the quilt square by square.. the fabric is made with little squares on it.. and she stitched around each square by hand and finished off all the rest by hand.. Just thought you guys would like to see what some of our older ladies can do.. she was in her 80s when she passed away.

What a wonderful treasure for your neice and the baby to have. I have quilts from my grandmother and aunt and they are among my prized possessions. Thanks for sharing .....

What as treasure ! I have a Crib Quilt that my Mother hand made for ME way back in 1931. It is Grandmothers Flower Garden and was down-sized from the original large size pattern. Then I have three quilts hand made by a favorite Aunt. Two are for twin beds and one for a double. There, I told you how old I am! But, you know, now I'm wondering just what to do with them. I have three daughters and 2 Granddaughters. One of my Grands is named after my Mother. So hopefully the five will appreciate them.

That is wonderful and truly a treasure. So what if she didn't sew every square I've often used those pre-printed materials there is a lot of work stitching around it.

Honey, if she didn't sign it, can you find somehow to do it for her? Just her name and year. It'll be a treasure for sure.

What a lovely gift for the baby!! Just going around those squares is a lot of work for sure!! Need good eyes for that!! MyGF's MIL quilted the most beautiful quilts & GF & MIL were talking 1 morning & quilting when GF noticed she quit talking. She had passed away with a thimble on her finger & quilt in her hand. Doing what she loved most. GF called for help but she went the way she wanted to go. I had just talked to her the night before. Sweet lady. I agree you must put her name & date on the quilt!! Jan

She was a special lady, never a cross word about anyone.. always willing to help anyone also.. this is a special quilt and to stitch around each square is something special..I never thought about her signing it.. But I will tell my neice to have someone do it for her.. that is such a wonderful idea.. since many things are lost to the unknown cause someone did not make somekind of note on it.. Thanks guys for all you help..
