Putting dresser on heating and air vent

I just took the plunge and bought a beautiful stickley dresser--curly maple and cherry. Now, I am frantically trying to the get the bedroom ready. The place I would like to put it has a floor heating air conditioning vent. My first thought is not to put it over the vent. Are there guidelines for putting wood furniture over vents?

Check with the store you bought it at. Stickley would probably be alright but you may void the warranty.

Putting it directly over the vent can be disasterous. The heated air will dry the wood excessively and could result in shrinking and splitting. You could probably find or have made, some type of ductwork to divert the air out under the baseboard of the dresser.
