I am remodeling a kitchen. I want to keep existing skylight for a new sink placement with floating 10.5 deep shelves crossing over the sink. Am I sacrificing too much of the skylight source with the 10.5 deep shelf? There will be LED Light Strip Ribbon installed on the lower shelf. The shelves will be custom made and support hardware will be custom made. My general contractor does not recommend using Ikea floating shelf hardware (Ikea hardware support weight 20lb max).
