please pray for my daughter

michelle16

I have been using this forum for awhile, with the hopes of starting a new kitchen. Last august my 11 year old daughter was diagnosed with a DVT blood clot in her left leg. It could have traveled to her lung and killed her. Luckily we caught it in time.Last week she was hospitalized again because the clot grew bigger. 50% of patients the body dissolves the clot naturally. 50% it remains like scar tissue to the vein wall- this is what happened to her, because there is not good blood flow there it causes another clot to form. The blood thinning medication only prevents new clots it doesn't dissolve the one's you have. She was taken off the medicine a few months ago. She is extremely athletic, hoping to one day play basketball/softball in college.People think blood clots only happen to older people who sit for too long. It actually happens to athletes alot because they have a low resting heart rate/blood flow which can cause clots. She is back on medicine, had to pull her out of all her sports for fear of an injury to brain while on blood thinners. I know there are alot of kind regular posters here, and was just hoping you all could say a short prayer for my daughter.I have orinted an article in the Hunterdon Democrat- outr local newspaper in Nj. hoping to spread awarenes because March if s DVT awareness month. It kills 1 out of 10. My daughter is only 11 she doesn't deserve this. Thanks in advance to anyone who has positive thoughts and prayers for my daughter, Michelle

I can't thank you all enough, I keep reading the posts over and over hoping the positive prayers will help her, To kaismom- yes she is definitely seeing a pediatric hematologist; she has seen two, and has an appointment March 30 with the vascular surgeon. My three sons I am going to send you an e-mail, any inf. you can give me would be so helpful. Thank you all again, Michelle

As a mom, I know how scary this must be for you. I wish her (and you) all the best. We almost lost our ds twice, so it brings back memories when I hear of another child in danger.
Hopefully, this is just a tough experience that you will all get through and it will become a distant memory. It sounds like you have specialists taking good care of her, so I am hoping they can fix things so that you no longer have to worry about it.
Please let us know how she is doing.

(hugs to you and your entire family) So scary and I am sorry for what you are all going through. If it helps, I work with a young man (30)who found out he had seven (!) clots in his leg several years ago and is living an extremely active, successful life but who is always mindful of the situation. My point is, he lives his life like everyone else and this has become a side issue for him- yes, an important one- but not the most important one. He has work, friends, a wonderful fiancee and I believe a full wonderful life in front of him- just like your precious little girl.

So sorry to hear about your daughter, how frightening.

I shall keep her & your family in my prayers, please let us know her first name - I like to have a name when praying.

Serena Williams is the perfect example of an athlete afflicted with this. She just suffered from a pulmonary embolism & hematoma -

    God Bless

Michelle, A wonderful friend told me many years ago, that we may pray with such Faith that we are actually Thanking God - in advance - for the Miraculous Healing that is requested. We here, all join with your family, in praising the Lord for His many, Miraculous Blessings including my own life that was given a second and even a third chance years ago! These are the life events that we all dread and yet the Faith, Hope and Charity that we share will help us to overcome fear and to rejoice in His Love for all of us. Thank you for trusting us and for sharing the concerns of your family. Please know that we care about you and your sweet daughter. May God continue to Bless your family and all of us as we face the challenges in our lives. Hugs to you, Rose

Prayers and positive thoughts for your sweet girl and your family and YOU. My youngest had open heart surgery at four days and subsequent procedures and it is very scary and nothing makes you feel more vulnerable. At the same time, the beauty of TERRIBLE things is the appreciation of what is here in front of you. I was thinking today how although I hate at times being reminded of the vulnerablity of my children, I have to thank, whatever higher power you might believe in, that I have been given the chance to recognize the gift of the beautiful loved ones that are sharing my journey and to recognize this gift daily. Sorry to sound off, but I feel so much for you and this has been on my mind. Love and prayers to you!

Reading the posts again this morning. It helps so much, you have no idea, when I hear about others that feel what I feel, it gives me hope that it will get better. To JEJVTR: you wanted her name, it is Claudia Rose. Her name came to me in a dream 1 week before I had her, I looked up the meaning and it meant Dazzling, so I said that's it! Rose is after my mom. You also mentioned Serena Williams, well actually, that is the vascular surgeon we are seeing on the 30th, he doesn't usually see kids, but he is seeing Claudia after I begged! I am very hopeful that he can help in some way. I worry that the original clot is 7 months old, so the probability of it dissolving at this point is not good, which means she can keep clotting there, which is what happened last week, so if she comes off the medicine she is at risk. If she stays on it for life, she will have a life of no sports, which is her life, especially at 11 years old! i just wish I new what to expect, if they told me okay be on this medicine, no sports for 6 months then you'll be fine. That is not the case with a clot, you don't know what is going to happen. Not sure if I mentioned all her test results for clotting disorders came up negative, so the only thing we have to go in, is th esimilarity between athletes and clots. Thanks again for listening to me and praying with me, this has helped me so much! Michelle

Debbie: the friend you mentioned, is he on blood thinners for life? So glad he is doing well and active. CLUELESSINCHICAGO- that must have been so scary to go through when your baby is only days old.I really felt your warm wishes come through in that post. How old is your little one now? When you hear others share what they have went through and they pull through, it really makes you hopeful, thank you so much.

  • debbie1031

Hi Michelle- yes, he will always need the blood thinners. If you have any specific quaestions regarding his treatment and long term management of the problem, just let me know. I'm sure he will be happy to share any information that might be helpful to you. :)

    Michelle,
I am sorry that your daughter is going through this. I know you are a wreck, and I am sure she is scared. I want you to know that your story has touched me, and I send her special get well thoughts and strength to you.
Your a great mom, you are going to get her through this and it will be only a memory.

    Michelle

Glad to hear that Claudia Rose in the hands of expert medical providers

    What a pretty name -

You need to take a deep breath, a time out for you - a walk, night out with friends, a little shopping spree something that says - I need "me time" and tell yourself you are doing the best that you can for your daughter. The situation will unfold and in the grand scheme of things you really don't have control - ALl you can do is what you are doing, support & love Claudia Rose, get her the best available treatment & enjoy life...
Prayers continue, now with a name!

I have every digit crossed for you and your daughter.

Please don't drive yourself crazy worrying about the future. These kinds of bad conditions sometimes really do just resolve themselves for some people -- you just can't know the future. So worrying about it just spoils the present while changing nothing about tomorrow. We'll all focus on yanking the future into submission and letting all good things happen for your daughter; you please just concentrate on loving every moment you can be with her.

    Good luck to you both.
