Hi. I could not find 7" recessed lights to replace old black can lights, so we went with 6". The electrician said I could use a rim/ring, but there are a total of 7 lights that need caulking/mud/or rings. I didn't want the ceiling to be busy with double rings. Has anyone encountered this problem? How did you fix it? The ceiling was painted not too long ago so if we caulk and or mud, the paint will match. Am I dreaming thinking that mud and or caulk can fill these gaps smoothly?
