It might have been me, but I'm not sure. I spray painted a planter with a Terracotta paint from Rustoleum, but I think it was fiberglass, if that matters. It's pretty convincing, if it will work on your surface.

Maybe it was you, I don't really remember without seeing it again. Seems like it had a design on it, circling the planter. Does that sound right?

That might not work for me since I thought the person added the sculpted design to the planter also. My planter is plastic - just a really bi,g plain, plastic planter.

This sounds like a great idea. I would also love to know if this technique could be used on plastic. We have a large litterbox that is made to look like a Tuscan jar (it fits over the inner litter container, and above the jar is a charcoal filter and a potted plant -- whole thing is maybe 4' tall). It's just a hard plastic, but it would look really nice with a bit of a finish on it.

If I thinking of the right post, the OP's neighbor had taken either plaster or drywall mud and mixed a little paint with it. When applied it took on the appearance of concrete. All it needed was sealing.

Thanks jesemy, but no, this was a bigger planter on someone's driveway or patio, I think. The more I try to remember it, the less I can remember. I think annz may have it though, seems like I do remember something about a neighbor.
