Hi, I'm new to this forum and thought I'd share some info on the Firestarters! I participate in several forums on the net and have seen tutorials for the firestarters using pinecones. They dip them in wax I believe and I think you can use scented wax. (Sorry to cut this short here, but it's getting way too late and I need to call it a day because I get up so early for work. - I'll find the tutorial tomorrow and repost again then.) You can also type "pinecone firestarters" in your web browser line and see what you come up with.

I have made bundles to toss in the fireplace.
I wrapped dried rosemary stems, and cedar sticks, and cinnamon sticks,dried lemongrass,and one of those long fireplace matches,in tissue paper wrapped with a raffia bow. I also sprinkled some lavander buds inside the bundle, I did not have any lavander stems. I used different colored tissue and displayed them in a basket, I sold these at a craft show, they were very popular. You can use any herbs that smell good, just clip some stems and let them dry.

This past fall I dried Oregano to use as fire starters. They never got made but the basket of dried oregano looks wonderful sitting in the garage. I'm going to take them down to a friend with a fireplace and let them try them. I can't bring them into my house, to use as a decoration, because my cat will eat everything like that.
