Adam, I would expect you to get something. Don't hold your breath for the D. gigas to flower. I've had three of them for a few years and have not seen mine flower, while all my other Dorstenia flower all year long. The problem I see is that they are selfing so when you take the pollen from one to cross it to the other, you've already pollinated the donor. The other thought is that it might not work, if the receptors on the stigma are a different shape from that of the pollen. I think this is a question for Michael (OOA).

I'm patiently waiting for my D. lavrani to flower so I will know if I have one of each sex. I think it's going to be a long time coming!!!!

Would cutting the flower off the foetida and rubbing it against the gigas flower work?

Rubbing it usually works with most things, but I'm partial to a cat's whisker - the cat, less so.

No clue... it might. Won't know until you get some flowers and try it. These are the three I have. I got them in 2012 and have yet to see flowers. The larger one went dormant several weeks ago but looks like It wants to start growing again... The skinny one in front, I believe, is a rooted cut and not seed grown just looking at the lack of a fat base as seen on the other two.

Eight yeas has past, I still wonder that whether dorstenia gigas can hybride with other dorstenia species? Has anyone tried this?
