How tall are the ceilings? I would imagine you are keeping the wood doors as is? Consider painting the door trim and baseboards the same colour as the walls to make it feel more spacious and less busy. I'm wondering if a white with a tint of yellow would liven up the space instead of white? Benjamin Moore blossom tint

The painted door at the end of the hallway; maybe you could find something to accent this, a tromp l'oeil wallpaper, a piece of art or a bright paint colour. Is this a small closet? If so, can the door be removed and a dresser or interesting armoire placed here for storage?

Thank you so much for your ideas Bette. My ceiling is 8 ft high, and I wasn't planning on changing doors but am up for suggestions. That dark trim is throughout the house, and I was planning on working around it as I have completed our bedroom to already to complement the dark trim. I like the idea with doing something with the storage closet at the end of the hall, the previous owners painted that end wall, trim and door all the same colour…

The colour of the wall now is actually a white with a yellowish undertone and it actually gives the hallway a dingy feel. I just don't think the yellow undertones work with the beige carpet or dark wood..but what do I know!

You are on the right track, stick with Dover White. Have you investigated the drop in the ceiling to see if it's a pipe that can be relocated giving you a flat ceiling in the hall?

A mirror on the far door (storage closet) might help reflect light + would be useful, too.
