Please help me decorate this room around this bed

it's my son's room. we just recently moved so most rooms look like this, half empty. I got this bed and I right upholstery wad more grayish. it turn out beige. I'm having a hard time deciding on the layout, night stands, bedding, curtains. I do know that where his desk is now, I want some sort of larger corner desk. I'm unsure of how to choose colors that would not look too matchy matchy as it's a tween's room after all. I would also appreciate accessory advice My son like star wars. Thank you in advance.

If you put his bed ( headboard) against the wall next to the entry door, it will open up the area to the left of the window. Perhaps you could put a comfy chair for him in that spot. A corner desk will work well to the right of the window. If you are keeping the rug in the room, then perhaps use the rusty red from the carpet as your accent color in the room. Then you will have beige, brown and rusty red as your three main colors. If you are willing to buy another carpet , then you could do brown beige and teal, OR brown , beige and green OR brown beige and orange. Any of these would be easy to find a carpet with these color combinations and then you can add drapes or roman shades or even shutters .

As soon as Dianne said orange I just had to show you our tween boys room. The end wall is brighter than in the picture so I included a closer shot of the color.

Btw everything on the walls are placed way high because the boys kept knocking them down playing mini sticks!

Use shades rather than curtains, which is a cleaner look and will also keep the floor area clear.

I would get light brown curtains for the window. Don't worry about colors being too matchy. Matching is a good thing here. Since he has a temporary nightstand I think you should go shopping for the corner desk. Where did he keep his clothing in the past? Has he no other furniture? A chest of drawers uses less wall space than a dresser. Is he likely to put up posters and such?

Use room darkening shades or drapes. Get navy. It will help them sleep.

Hi everyone, we bought our house 9 months ago - and have been going through renovations of kitchen, bathrooms and such. This has kept me so busy, I haven't had the time or energy to think of decorating kids rooms. We've all been sleeping on box springs/mattresses until very recently. In answer to emmarene's question, my son has two custom closets - where he has a ton of drawers and shelves and that's where we've been keeping his clothes and books. The desk holds his school stuff, but the kiddo does his homework either on the floor or in the kitchen. So I agree that I need to shop for a corner desk asap because now that he's getting older and has longer hw time - he should have a comfy study nook. I love the ideas you guys posted so far. I especially love the idea of fitting in a comfy chair, the shades instead of curtains and color orange! I'm definitely getting rid of the rug in my photos - it was a gift for in-laws, but it does not go with my decor style. I'll use it elsewhere. I LOVE the green and orange colors - and perhaps the light browns (not dark). I am NOT positive about the idea of putting the bed by the door , as Diana Land said. Though I do see the point that it will open up more room. Perhaps it would be a good idea to put the bed by the left side of window along the wall? Also, do you guys think a chair like this could look good in this room? Also any advice on bedding sets? I am good with remodeling, but I suck (really suck) at decorating. Also, do you have have specific ideas for the nighstand? I have no idea what type of nightstand to get. The bed is size full. THANK YOU AGAIN.
