We used the Olympic product last year and had a peeling, ugly mess by fall. My husband has spent two solid days scraping it up from a very small porch. We're not sure what to do next, since once you have one of these products on you can't go back to a stain and water-seal type of product. The Olympic product has a class action suit going against it. I would advise against it unless you had no other choice.

I also checked into this for my son's deck and the negative reviews were overwhelming!

I did extensive research into this last year and found that virtually every deck restore product had a majority of negative reviews, and in some cases even a class action lawsuit - ugh! Sherwin-Williams had *just* come out with their own version - a new product - so I gave that a try. I followed instructions pretty closely for use on my deck, which to be honest, was in a truly horrible condition, with cracking, bent, splintered, and weathered wood, and the results were just short of miraculous.

The stuff didn't fix the major issues, of course - it just covers it cosmetically - nor did it totally smooth out the surface (for that you should sand before application), but even after the winter and a bit of snow there are only 2 small, barely noticeable areas where I will have to repaint. No idea what happened there, but it should be easy enough to fix.

Long story short, to date I am satisfied with the Sherwin-Williams deck restoration paint (sorry, I don't recall the name of it off-hand) and plan to use it on another weathered wood area. My only issue was that the paint color came out much lighter than I had hoped and expected. Take this with a grain of salt, however, as it's only seen 1 year of wear. I don't really know how many times you can re-coat the deck before the only option is replacement.
