The ceiling is a pine tongue-and-groove flooring that is finished with a clear polyurethane sealer.

Does a real wood ceiling on a porch require a lot of maintenance? My contractor is pushing PVC but I don't like the look. Does stained wood hold up better than painted? Thank you.
