OT: National Pecan Pie day debate...

Russ Barnard

Okay.. so.. National PECAN pie day is July 12th, which started a debate that follows:

Co-worker 1: I thought national pie day was March 14th?
Me: That is, but you only get to make 3.14% of a pie
Co-Worker 2 - Wait, isn't national pie day January 23rd?
Me: it is, but 3 out of every 14 people recognize March 14th
Co-worker 2: wait.. which day it is?
Me: yes

Funny. But I did learn to mark July 12 on my calendar.

The dates that are posted -

July 12 is my brothers and ex-SIL anniversary

March 14 is my other brothers birthday and

January 23 is my birthday but July 12 is the best day.

Pretty sure all that is too much useless information. :)

Every day should be Some-kind-of-pie Day.

I thought it coincided with Thanksgiving, since that's about the only time I get some.

Funny! Ya got me too- I thought it would be PEE-can -vs- p-KON too.

My kid's school used to use March 14 as a fundraiser day. Had to make a few pies then!

I like July 12, it's my younger son's birthday. The older son likes pie instead of cake for his birthday. Not pecan pie, though. I like pie for my birthday too. :) I get leftover pie from the birthday the day before mine.

Russ - ha! I'm a DBA too but I really prefer ETL and EDI work . Smaller company I'm sure and smaller IT dept. so never any slow days on my end....

Why would Pecan Pie Day be in July? It's certainly not pecan season. Maybe the idea is to use up the last of last year's crop? It's July; I'm in South Carolina; make mine PEACH!

The wife and kiddos are home again... Life is noisy once more.. heh.

Evidently there was a huge debate with all the relatives in her visit over pies after I mentioned this thread and there appears to be a huge "pie thing" / "rivalry" amongst them that has been going on for years, I am told, over coconut cream vs whatever.

They saw the kitchen plans and were like, "oh.. it's on" and I am like, "amateurs...bless yer heart,....."

    lol
