call your local public library or noodle around their website and see if they subscribe to consumer reports online edition (it can be hard to find, even when i know its there...). there are many more detailed ratings online than in the print edition. you'd be able to access CR from your computer at home, if available.

i've noticed the larger and more expensive an item is, the more likely an owner will complain about it. so its nice to read ratings, rather than reviews, for more useful info.

Everything has bad reviews. If you can't make a leap of faith based on features that you value, then listen to your KD and pick the one that she recommends. She's done this hundreds more times than you have.

IMO a 48” range is too much for a home the exhaust system has to be huge and they are NOISY I have a small catering biz and I have a 36” Bertazzoni all gas that I love but I also have double electric wall ovens because there are some things i like baked in a gas oven and others not so much. I have had this for 10 yrs and really never find a time when I need more than 6 burners I ahve a simple griddle that fits over 2 burners instead of the fancy one from Bertazzoni for doing grilled things this is a picture of the hood and stove in my kitchen

We have a 48 inch dual fuel bertazzoni. The stove portion is great & easy to clean (but I've used a family member's blue star & was really impressed by how powerful it was.) The electric oven of the bertazzoni is less great. It takes a while to heat up and, even on convection, one side is hotter than the other. Also the dial for oven temp is not exact so you'd need a thermometer. Good luck!
