Here is a really cool project and counter top that was built for Good Life New England Design Company located in Cape Cod Massachusetts. It is a unique design, unique shape and definitely a very cool counter top! It is made with a mix of sapele mahogany and maple.

Every project has a plan! This plan indicates radius, width of strips and overall size of top. The radius and dimensions had to be perfect to fit perfectly on a marble counter top.

Prior to glue up a mock up was created to make sure the individual strips manufactured would equal exactly what the plan called for!

This top had to be built in two pieces and then glued together because the overall width was to big for our sanding machine.

The top was shaped to the exact specifications of the design plan. A template was built out of 3/4" plywood and this template was attached to the bottom side of the counter top. A straight router bit was used to cut the shape of the top.

Several coats of Waterlox tung oil bring out the natural beauty of the wood.

Installed! Beautiful picture od the outside edge profile and the contrasting colors of the sapele mahogany and maple.

Gorgeous! The contrasting style of wood against white marble. Stunning!

We love how the maple strips appear to shrink as the go around the radius.
