Ours offers both options - two pieces. It was very useful when my late husband was ill and needed a chair in the tub - he could still bath himself.

I put a combination tub filler and handheld in my tub for the same reason - may someday need it.

Yes, we did switch in our condo. I have always liked hand-held better than fixed shower head anyway. In our main residence we have both fixed and hand-held in all 3 bathrooms, but decided to go with only hand-held in the condo. I like to control the amount of water that falls on me. Can also be used in place of a bidet to wash a targeted area of the body.

We have both options, but I will never have a tub or shower that doesn't include a hand held spray. Ours has been used for pets, grandchildren and illness. If you're only going to have one or the other, opt for the handheld. I don't think you'll regret it!

I have a small fiberglass shower in one of my bathrooms and have only a handheld. The hose is a non-issue. It's so much handier than a fixed head for rinsing down the shower when cleaning it and for rinsing down you body, too! Sometimes I want a shower without a hair washing and it's perfect in that situation, too.

We have a showedhead like that in one bathroom. I love it when I'm cleaning the shower and can take it off and spray everything down. It's also really useful when I'm washing the dog.

I have a similar setup in my bathroom too and I love it, cannot imagine not having a handheld shower! They also offer similar showerheads that have a rainfall attachment. Simply spectacular!

We had a shower disaster shortly after we moved in which involved the bottom row of tiles and floor being removed 2x.
