have to raise house but cannot have basement walls

our house was destroyed by Hurricane sandy. in order to rebuild our home the first floor Has To Be Raised 10 feet. we're not allowed to build Solid walls in between the supporting pillars and can Only Use Lattice Or The Like To Keep Space under House open in case of another flood Dont Want It To Look Outof Place Or hideous Any Ideas Appreciated

Houses Are Close Together In Small Island Community In NY, Most Neighbors Faired Better Than We Did And Do Not Have To Rebuild (Most Need To Gut And Renovate Not Start over ) Dont Have Pics Unfortunately Everything Destroyed But Thank you

Can you go totally coastal and use a timber pier system? Bolted on timber ledgers and a grayed out cedar shingle exterior would complete the look! With proper beam and pier sizing, the space below the house could be the parking area.

I hope if they are requiring a 10' lift they raised the max building height accordingly!

Raised height restrictions so that's not a problem Dont know what to do wit open spaces between supports since we cannot put anything solid around perimeter

Nautical theme? Big ropes? Defining solid is a problem...are timbers bolted to the piers considered solid? Or lattice work?

In FL I have seen shallow root bushes planted around - these would get blasted out if there were a flood surge but the idea is to save the home...

Space needs to be 95 % open. Lattice is suggested on FEMA and nyc. Dept of building websites. Ten feet of lattice is just too much.
