FWIW, I cut the tabs in half and use 1/2-tabs for most wash loads.

Our Miele installer recommended starting out with a 1/2 tab for routine wash loads. We did that and found dishes came out great so that's what we do.

Just the cut end is exposed

Because, if you use the dishwasher as designed, and don't rinse, and put in things with baked on food, which I do, you need the full tab...

I know this is an old thread, but does anyone have a decent technique for cutting these? I end up with powder all over when I do it with a knife (which I have to do because of the plastic)

I use kitchen shears.

I use a cheap serrated utility knife while it is still wrapped in the plastic (which holds it mostly together).

Is it acceptable to use a quarter miele tab? My Miele service tech said not to use less than a half tab, but I am the only one that uses dishes here so even after a few days less than half a load is in the Lumen. Half tab using normal mode leaves removable white film on glasses. Half tab using Eco mode doesn’t leave anywhere near as much white film. Not sure why. So maybe a quarter tab is in order.
