Jack is definitely an Echeveria:). Maybe Echeveria colorata?

First off a fast draining mix is a must. An easy cheap one is 50% rinsed and strained perlite or pumice and 50% cactus mix. Most of the cactus mixes you can buy at places like Lowes and Home Depot need some drainage assistance. Next is a container with a drainage hole and as much light as you can give Jack. Water only when the mix is completely dry from top to bottom. Easy way to check is with a wooden skewer and just dip skewer all the way down till you hit the bottom. If the skewer comes up wet anywhere, wait to water. Good air circulation is important too;).

When repotting make sure to clean off all of the old mix before potting up into the new 50/50 mix:).

It would help when giving advice if you would give your Hardiness zone;). Click on the green to find out what your zone is if you do not already know. Depending on your zone you may be able to keep Jack outside, but if you live in cooler climate that will not be possible because Jack will turn to mush.
