Large sectional or smaller sectional and two chairs?

We are building our house and want to get a sectional for our great room. If we go with the large sectional we won’t be able to fit any other chairs with it. The dimensions are 148”x85” with a chaise lounger. The smaller sectional is 113”x85” and no chaise lounger. We could then do 2 smaller chairs. The sectionals are at Macy’s and on sale right now so I’m feeling the pressure to order. We have no drywall or anything up yet so it’s hard to get a feel for the room. Any advice is great. Thanks !

NEVER buy anything under pressure. WAIT until you move in before you start buying furniture. Most people are unable to SEE the sizes of rooms and the sizes of furniture and buy furniture that is WAY too big. It is best to get the feel of the room and the traffic patterns before buying furniture. It is best to pay a bit more and get the proper furniture than to save some money and regret the furniture every time you walk into the room.

That "I wish I'd waited, dammit!" feeling costs a whole lot more than just money. Wait until the room is complete.

WAIT !!! use hand me down furniture to sit on for a while until you can get a feel for your space. i know you want everything new and perfect right away, i totally get that, i'm the same way... but i've now learned that unless you hire a designer who can give you a visual rendering "property-brother-style", it's best to wait and decorate the room first. pick wall colors, drapes, rugs etc. it sucks to have to design everything around the giant sectional you ordered prematurely (been there done that...). you will learn how your room works best, and you may completely change the layout of the room based on living in it for a while (been there done that, too ;)
