If you have mowed the bermuda at least twice, then yes. You need to be sure the roots are awake before fertilizing. Otherwise you're wasting fertilizer. This is only for bermuda, though. If you are reading this because you live in San Antonio, but you have St Augustine, then wait until May to fertilize. St Aug does not need an early boost of fertilizer.

About ten days ago mine was almost straw brown, but now it’s really greening up. I assume I should wait another few weeks?

I have already mowed my Bandera lawn one time. The south-facing back is ready to mow again, but it is not completely awake. Just the early risers are ready for the second mow. I would wait until the second mowing before fertilizing bermuda and zoysia.

What part of SA are you in?

Do you know what variety of zoysia you have?
