I have had a very similar experience. Used BM (Regal) in our last home, but it is not the same now. Paint rep told me to go with Super Spec - terrible mistake! Just wish I had painted over it, because it is impossible to clean or touch up. (Only used in upstairs bedrooms and hallway.)

After that, we started using Muralo paint (now California). I love the Nanocoat (eggshell) for walls. But just last week, I recommended it to my DIL, and after she used the California version of it, I was NOT impressed! Seems watered down.

We have used California exterior, and it is great. Overall, I think they make a great product, but some of the changes they have made to the Muralo line may not be up to speed.

I have used it and I love it in the past. We all have our preference so my advice to you is to try then decide. I had the dining room painted and they didn't use it because they supplied their own paint and I notice the difference.

Where I live if the painters get to decide the brand they use the one that gives them the best kick back so for my clients i always insist on choosing the paint brand. I use C2 and Farrow & Ball very often .
