If you like your ceilings and windows to look tall, I would recommend NOT doing transoms (or at least not doing such tall transoms as I have here - they’re 2 feet). The 2 foot transoms actually cause the ceilings and the windows to look lower. If I could do it over, I would omit the transoms altogether or do a shorter transom (18”) but keep the overall window height the same. Just something to think about :)

I did this rough photoshopped pic where I removed the transoms a while back. Can you see how much higher the windows and ceilings look over the sink without the transoms?

Thanks so much for the detailed info. I think it looks beautiful with and without the transoms. It is certainly an eye opener and something to consider. The rest of the house looks awesome too by the way.
