stain color of timbers

I am building a house with Hardie Mountain sage and will have some timber framing that I need to stain and I'm really struggling with trying to find a stain color I like. I really like this cordovan brown. My timbers will be rough sawn Douglas fir. Are these timbers Douglas fir or cedar? I know different woods take stain differently.

Hi Jeff,

The timbers on this home are actually rough sawn cedar with the cordovan brown stain color.
