I would do lined roman shades hung above the window frame

romans blinds, woven woods or cellulars would be fine. (do an inside mount if you can)

in my sons room I did a 3/8 double cell cellular from Bali (blinds.com) and love them. you can choose to have a blackout liner if you prefer

your size window would look something like this (get cordless)

have you considered doing a rug under the bed? (placed like below)

maybe a little bench or a few ottomans in the space left of the window?

your room is very neutral. I would do a color. perhaps something from you bed linen or a complementing color to what you have. White will be blah.

Room darkening Roman shades in a textured neutral will be timeless. They are expensive, so I would caution against a color that may not work with future decor. Use bedding, art, rugs, etc to add color to your room.

Have had roman shades and do like the look when they are in the up position nicely folded.

When they are down, they just look like a flat piece of material hanging there.

Now maybe it was just the ones I had. Not cheap btw.

Also if they are going to be put up and down all the time, sometimes they can be a bit of

a bother getting them to look nice. Again, may have been the ones I had installed.

In other words, go with the inside mount cellular in a neutral color. You could then

dress the window with drapery down the road.

Roman shades are lovely for that type of window!

Your room looks very cozy. I think it is better to buy and install blinds instead of curtains. Because it is more practical option. On large windows, curtains will only collect dust, but blinds will accumulate it less, because their area is smaller. I live in Canada so I found Calgary blinds for sale - Sonata Design where I chose my room. But I think you can also order online for your location. I think the white will fit nicely.
