Last week we removed one just like that from our bathroom. It was a Moen and the rough valve was their Moentrol valve (which has push on-off/volume control and temperature memory ) unlike their Positemp valve which just just rotates for on/off and temperature.

You can look on line to see what Moentrol trims are available. Moentrol and Positemp trims are not interchangeable

Thanks. This one operates by pulling it straight out to turn the water on, and then rotating it for the temperature.

We replaced the rough valve too so I didn’t need the Moentrol trim.

The valve and trim that I previously had worked the same way you said yours does.

It appears that what you pictured would work but I am not an expert. You could always call Moen 1-800-BUY-MOEN And they should be able to tell you for sure.

Is it from about the mid 1980's? I did a ton of research when we remodeled ours a couple of years ago. The thing is that you need an adaptor to get the new one to work (so that the holes line up correctly). These are just my notes that I kept-- Adaptor 145058; changes from 2&7 to 5&7 so moentrol valve will work.

I called Moen--they have great customer service. I bought the adaptor on Amazon for about $10 and the new one worked with no problems.

I have the same one but I like an american standard trim kit can I replace the trim kit without changing the valve? With some kind of an adapter?? Any information would be helpful. Thanks!
