The door is already ordered? Is there a bevel to the glass? 3M makes a ton of different film options.

Is the door going to have Low-e? Are you worried about nighttime or daytime privacy?

Here is a LINK to a site with lots of styles of privacy film. These should all be static cling types that are applied by wetting the glass and the film with soapy water in a spray bottle, though the designs are also available as adhesive types. The simplest non textured styles are also available at home improvement and hardware stores as well as some department and specialty stores.

If it is daytime...the low-e does create a bit of reflectivity. If the area is backlit (i.e. at night) that mostly goes away.

I haven't done it, but I have been considering getting this for my garage-door windows. Maybe something similar would work for you.

For the mirror-effect film, if you put your eyes very close to the window, can you still see into the house? Thinking of this for our home.

Anna yes, IF there is a light source inside the house. I have large dining room windows that can be seen through the side light if you place your face right up to it, but if the dining room curtains are shut you cannot see in. At night, the mirror effect reverses so you need something for privacy. My front window doesn't have another window behind it, and people cannot see in even with their face pressed against the glass....if my lights are off. During the day, only a tiny bit of my chandelier shows through the film (when on) , but nothing else of the room shows. I really love this film BUT it doesn't let any sun rays through that house plants need, so don't plan on growing any sun loving plants by these windows.

I have a new door with clear glass panes. I’m looking for a film that allows you to see clearly out, but is mirrored or the like on the outside looking in.
