Limited sq footage, which closets more important?

I've built 4 middle income duplexes with the bigger master closet in picture 2, and have 5 more duplexes to build. Some of my tenants have said pantry is too small, so I've taken some sq footage from master closet. Also I'm not a huge fan of bifolds so I made laundry a walk in as well. Walk in's take up a lot of sq ft because about 6 sq ft is just for someone to stand when they walk in and turnaround, however people think they hold more stuff because they take up more room, good for marketing. The total sq ft for 3 bed 2 bath is 1450. My tenants mostly have 2 kids. I might sell these to owner occupants as well. Which do you prefer, plan 1 or 2?

I prefer something in between your two plans. While the bigger master closet is wonderful, there is very little space in the small laundry room for folding things and hanging things. In the smaller closet, there is little space for laundry hampers (which would have to be stored in the laundry), but more possible hanging space available in the laundry room. If I had to choose between just those two, I would choose the smaller closet and larger laundry because when I take things out of the dryer, I immediately hang or fold them, and I can have three hampers for sorting clothing (we sort items into three hampers as we put them in the laundry room). I don’t like dirty, possibly smelly, laundry inside the closet.

Larger master bedroom closet. I currently live in a condo with the stackable washer and dryer behind double doors. Since the machines are stackable it allows for useable space/storage in half of the laundry closet. I installed shelving above the stackable washer and dryer which allows for even more storage. Hope this helps.

Opinions will vary! :)

I can't reach the controls on stackables comfortably. I fold laundry in the TV room in the evening. Maybe in a spacious, sunlit, laundry room with a big counter for folding, I'd care, but otherwise, just make it convenient to use.

Value of pantry depends on the layout of the rest of the kitchen, housing expectations, etc.

You can maximize the space with a pocket door for the master closet and front load washer/dryer with countertop above for folding and sorting.
