Why not install unfinished and finish on-site? Engineered flooring doesn't have to be pre-finished, unless you do not trust the finishers in your area.

Consider parquet or terrazzo tile as very style appropriate choices for your MCM. Strip flooring wasn’t as popular a choice, and isn’t quite as appropriate, unless very narrow. Oil finishes are not at all period appropriate either, and are a nightmare to maintain.

Thanks, all. We are going to use engineered wood due to the concrete subflooring. We have newly installed heating/cooling throughout the house (powered by solar!) We do have a way to monitor humidity, but I'll need to look into that more, thanks. And good point about finishing on site. Recommendations for brands for unfinished? We were looking into narrower rather than wide as more suited to the era. We're used to maintaining oil finished wood and aren't putting wood in the kitchen, only living/dining/master/hall.

Kentwood is another option. We initially chose between them and Kährs, but ended up with a porcelanosa floor.
