Thanks for the inquiry. Regarding a wood fire, I'm afraid that the heat will warp the steel. This bowl is 1/8" thick and wood fires burn really hot! I've made a lot of fire sculptures / pits for a weekend event called Winterfest locally and have found that using 1/4" and 3/8" thick steel plate have warped with a wood fire with 3 fires over a weekend.
