Hoping some kind people out in internet-land might have some tips or advice.

The spouse and I wanted to update our bathroom and went with some new tile. Family who have tiled before helped us out, as we are in a very rural area and with COVID a professional was unavailable.

Unfortunately we are at a loss as to how to go about finishing the shower niche. Pencils? Bullnose? We have the tile for both options. I prefer the pencils, but am so unsure as to how we get that to work. Do we need to re-do the pieces of tile around the niche?

Of course there’s lots to critique here (we probably should have tiled the niche first, and I would have been great if the niche was in line with the grout....) BUT, I really am hoping for some advice for a good solution.
