For sale just leave the wall as is, and clear everything off the counter. It doesn't look like an area that you should highlight with anything over the range. Stage a lush plant on the new shelves instead.

I agree to put two staggered shelves there. You don’t need anything behind the stove because you have that high back there.

Thanks. I feel like I don't need anything there either. As far as clearing off the counter... right. I am clearing out everything but I'm not there yet. In process. Once the shelves are up and staged appropriately it'll be an awesome looking kitchen. I am just trying to cover all of my bases! Blank it stays! No other tile - just the kitchen floor is tiled.

I would do 3 shelves, with the bottom one going all the way across to the cabinet on the right side of the stove.

I like that idea as well but I don't want to buy a third shelf. Also it might make it all look to closed in.

Two is fine for staging purposes.

I have a similar situation. I chose full granite backsplash up to the level of the microwave which was the same height as the shelf. But I would have been happy with a shorter backsplash all around and a taller one behind the stove up to the microwave. The full backsplash doubles the price of the granite install.

Bead board would look great in here and I know you mentioned white shelves but ones that match the butcher clock would look great.

Would love to see a follow up showing the completed project. First and foremost, I would have added a range hood above the range. I would then consider shelves above the cabinet but would've have made a decision after installing a hood as that will change the overall visual space.

Is there no exhaust ventilation?
