Smooth, the wood grain in my opinion is forced and looks cheesy and fake.

I used the smooth one on my horizontal siding (not farm house).

Smooth just has a higher end look.

I would choose smooth; embossed wood grain looks too much like vinyl siding.

Another vote for smooth. If you look at real painted wood siding on older homes there is no visible grain.

Off topic but I think the white siding with black windows look is already looking a little bit dated. When something is done everywhere by everyone like that is it's easy at a later date to know when a house was built. It won't be a timeless.

Dissenting voice here. cedarmill…does not look anything like fake vinyl siding imo.

the disadvantage to cedarmill. if siding needs repaired in a spot..it can be done with bondo and touched up with paint. difficult to get satisfactory result on cedarmill.

No need to get all defensive about it or rip it down. I just expressed my opinion in an open forum. So go for it.

I grew up in a house with pure white brick, with black wood windows, and a black tile roof (Scandinavia)...built in the early 80's. So yes, while a very popular choice now...it says my childhood home to me 😄.
