Have you factored that height into a range (if you have one). Normally this is selected before cabinets are built as sometimes the cabinet height has be less than ‘standard’ to accommodate this built up edge.

That is a laminated edge. I prefer the look of a mitered edge.

I am doing a 2" mitered edge on my island. The perimeter counters are 3 cm straight edge.

@Beth H. :Thank you! Do you think if i use the regular 3cm edge, the fabricator will be able to raise the counters by 1 inch to make them higher? I also enjoy the thicker edge because its higher. Im 5’9’ and suffer from back pain more often than I like. The higher counters would be a plus. Thank you

(did you fabricate taller cabinets? that would have been the easier way to go

do you have enough space w/the upper cabs to go up an inch?

they could use a thicker plywood base to help raise it, as long as the outside edge isn't compromised and look too short.

I don't know the difference in cost between laminated and mitered edge. Our quote is $2200 for the 2 3/8" mitered edge on the island.
