My personal preference would be to put in matching hardwoods and have them site finished to the color you want and that would eventually work throughout the house. Then, when the time comes to refinish the existing floors, match them to your bedroom flooring color and they will all be consistent.

It will be an awkward transition to pull off. If you insist on laminate, try finding one that is complimentary to the floor you already have. You are never going to get a match but you can at least try to find something that will compliment the honey tones in the Oak. Of course you could always sand and refinish the existing hardwood to a colour that will match your laminate...but that seems like working backwards (making the expensive thing match the lower priced thing).

Many a client of mine has used the natural colour of cork (cork is an oak so the colours are dead ringers for each other) with the "ribbon" or striped pattern (we call it Silver Birch) running in the same direction as the oak planks to offer a complimentary colour/pattern to their narrow planked oak flooring. And the price of the Silver Birch = $3.33/sf = same as high end laminate or medium end engineered hardwood.

I am replacing old sky blue carpet in my master with Alan + Roth Gunstock Oak laminate 10mm. It will join the 3/4" oak hardwood flooring also in gunstock with a transition strip. Because it is thicker than other laminate plus it already has the underlayment attached there is no need to put anything under it if laying it on a wood subfloor. It also creates a better transition from the wood.
