First, I do not like the furniture arrangement. One sofa is blocking the view to the deck and stopping my eye. Is there any other place the t v and that huge piece can go?

If this is the only possible arrangement, bring the sofas a little closer and pull in the Eames chairs into the convo areas on the rug.


That said, you should start with a rug. Look through products here on houzz ….rugs, living room, MODERN, and see if there are any you like. Build your room around the rug.

A rug would go a long way toward warming up the space, but I would go more retro. Consider arranging your furniture on a diagonal - start by angling the sofa on the right in front of the back left corner of the room - that way you wouldn't block the view and I'm attaching some photos but you can find a lot more about choosing color, arranging furniture, and creating a welcoming retro style room on these pages.
