what is the height of the ceiling where the beds begin? I'm wondering if this could begin at under 5 feet...

The ceiling height at the tallest part is 42" from the top of the matress to the header. It is fine for sleeping in and a good use of knee wall space, but they are a little tight for an adult sitting on the bed.

The ceilings were covered in leftover wallpaper (hence the different ceilings in the bunks). It is hand printed wallpaper from Bradbury & Bradbury wall coverings.
