You can put wallpaper on top of paint and usually no problems but on top of acoustic I think you would have issues...
that has bumpy/sharp points depending on the style used...
likely to poke holes in wallpaper and/or cause indents that make it cast shadows and look unlike real beadboard...plus likely to be difficult to hang straight seams...

You can mud the acoustic to smooth it out vs removing it--but do you think that will LOOK like bead board once it is on the ceiling?
How high are ceilings?
Wallpaper after all is meant to be viewed at eye-level in most instances and at closer distance than most people's ceilings...

Here's a Houzz link to a kitchen where Martha Stewart Living beadboard wallpaper was hung on the ceiling: I've never used this product, but reviews on Home Depot's site give it high marks. Good luck with your project. :)
