Joy, no matter the location for any plant, I’ve found I must also consider ’reflected sun / heat’. My house faces west. My June hosta is in back yard in an east facing flower bed against back of my house that faces east. The reflected morning & early afternoon sun hitting my house & reflecting into that bed & adding heat isn’t too hot. My planting beds across the back yard & along the fence face my house - so west. Everything along that fence gets afternoon sun from @1 pm through sunset & the heat reflecting off the fence is hot. There is a tree that provides dappled shade to some plants. My point being that the entire environment around the plant needs to be factored in as well as the orientation of planting. We here in PNW also now need to think about those heat domes we seem to be experiencing more often. Your spot #2 does sound best for your June. This plant gets large so it needs room to spread out over the years too. It will compete with tree roots for water so depending on the size of your maple, think about that too.
