I just got this table- absolutely stunning. The pictures on the website don't do it justice. I got the natural color and it does seem to have protection- it's smooth with a shine- probably a wax. It's not as rustic as I thought it would be (which is awesome). I do have a kitchen table which was finished with a powder coat from a different company. It didn't have any finish on it. I did put a carnuba wax on that which has lasted over a year with twice a day wet wipe down. I have to say that the kitchen table looks better than when I got it. The patina is beautiful. it's the look that I was after. I think if you go for the rustic look then go with the rustic look. Don't fret. I know I was getting wrapped up in staining etc initially but it didn't happen and any little mark/blemish on it is from my family and from having loving memories around the table. Who wants to live a pristine sterile life? Not me. Enjoy your furniture don't keep it so precious. Be well everyone.

Hi! Great suggestion! My husband mentioned lightly sanding it before trying staining. Both could work. Wood bleach may be needed to lift the current color and take the stain better. I’m honestly too afraid to have him try anything. He is super, super handy and has worked with wood and stains before, BUT... anything can happen. It’s too scary on a table like this! Lol! It would almost be worth it just to buy a new one in gray and try to sell this one for as much as I could. With that said, who has 3-4K laying around for a switch? Not me. We need a deck! I may just have to accept it in the current color. If we ever get more serious about attempting to bleach/stain I would start a new post. In the mean time, I think this table is great for anyone looking for something in this style. Check out the RH outlets! Shows up there a LOT in many different colors. I am careful with the table top because of the worry about staining. Two children upper elementary and middle.... I have a watchful eye on everyone when eating. The wax has helped I believe. Flat wax. Keep it muted. Adds to the style. ?
