black tile from floor over and around tub... maybe. I think I like the wood better. Less $$ and if you need to access jets for a jetted tub, WAY better than a tile side. (Are you doing jets? It will be significantly more $$ than air bubbles or soaking.) CL: no on tile, yes to the wood on the side of the tub. We're still on the fence about the tub, depends on the price difference. We're shower people, so it's way more important to us than the tub. Probably will end up being whatever is the cheapest.
white squares on shower walls and floor. I like this a lot. Very simple and nice. I'm debating what to do with the shower floor: white or black or some combination. CL: I'm ok with the same tile on floor, not sure what we like best..of course whatever's the most budget friendly is likely where we'd lean
71" wide - comes wiht a mirror 71" w x 27.55H
this one! 72" with maximum (to the floor) storage.
that shower-tub effect, but with dark tile on the shower floor and one wall: I love this! you? You could paint the rest of the dark tiled shower wall black as it goes over toward the toilet. LOVE. CL: I do like the shower-tub effect, just wondering if, cost wise, it's more to do something like this rather than a separate shower? This is a nice look. Like the contrast of dark tiles. SY: that's hard to say. It depends on the variables: a freestanding tub can be more than a decked tub; a third shower wall, tiled, can be as much as the additional glass.
the dark wall is striking... thoughts on this? I love it myself... just half walls, or one wall... It adds such good contrast. Much more impact than the image to the right, for example. CL: I love a good dark accent wall, Judder doesn't. SY: got it.
very good representation of shower-into-tub layout effect. Note here that we're looking at very similar materials to yours - but less boho and less contrast. I think I prefer the contrast/ boho effect to this more calm/staid effect. You? CL: agree, I like more of a contrast/boho feel. I do like the flooring. SY: check.
the same pattern line: stonepeak palazzo. fairly reasonably priced and would be cool if you really want a pattern on the floor. CL: I don't think we're digging a patterned floor. SY: ok, that's easier and more affordable.
palazzo floor.
if you really want a pattern on the floor, this one is reasonably priced. It's in my shower. :)
I've done this before with great effect: black above a simple white tile. We wouldn't spec this tile for cost purposes, but could get the effect with a rug. ThoughtS?
you can add interest by switching up the tile installation pattern. thoughts? CL: we both really love this tile pattern, definitely love the white subway with black grout look. SY: cool, ok.
large format 12x24 tile in herringbone install (not the light grout) CL: yes to tile, no to the light grout and herringbone. SY: ok!
large format tile in interesting basketweave install CL: Yes to all of this...tile, pattern and grout. SY: yay! you are very good at this. :)
this effect would be very reasonable to achieve in your space... CL: not much I don't like here. This flooring tile has always been a favorite of mine. I like the way the shower and tub are here...is this more or less costly compared to a glass glass enclosed shower? SY: same comment as above; I think it'd be a wash. A tile wall is expensive, as is a glass wall. As for the floor... do you think you prefer white as above or charcoal like the adjacent picture?
again, square wall tiles, octagon dot floors, the rug doing a LOT for the whole effect CL: I'm torn between the subway or square tiles. I really like the pattern you can add with the subway though. SY: I like both too...
this is fun/boho. I love the black and wood and chrome for you... these accessories are doing all the work for this space, which is a very affordable way to renovate! clean, simple backdrop palette. CL: we are all for the black/chrome/wood. I love the storage in this vanity. That's definitely something I'm hoping we can find, an affordable vanity with the storage. SY: thumbs up.
we could try for the wall between toilet and vanity... how much would you want it? CL: if space allows I think we'd prefer one. I love the vanity here too. SY: cool
and now you are much lighter overall. clean and bright. tell me your thoughts about contrast: black and white, vs gray and white, vs all white. (I love the wood in all of them.) CL: we love the look of this shower, but with the contrast of darker grout and dark floors. YES on needing the wood. We want clean and bright but maybe a little more black/white contrast. SY: got it.
the lighter gray floor has an all around less contrasted effect, but the black fixtures here stil pop. Tell me your thoughts about this image versus the images with darker gray/black floors. CL: we like the darker floors more. The black fixtures are great, thinking a mix of chrome/black would be nice. SY: perfect.
nothing not to dig about this :) black tile up the wall would be cool - even if it's large format instead of hexes like this.... brassy finishes are going to be more expensive than chrome. CL: I love brass, hubby hates it...so no brass for us. Love all of this, but think we'd rather have the dark tile on the floor and keep the shower tile all white SY: got it
these larger black hexes can be hard to find affordably - you'll do better cost-wise with large format tile laid in a pattern like herringbone. Ok? But the wood vanity and black mirrors and rug: yes! Tell me your thoughts on this image? CL: I LOVE the hex tile, but not if it's more $$. We are ok with the larger format tile (no herringbone though). love the black mirrors and vanity for sure! hubby was really drawn to this image, he liked the look of this wood vanity. SY: cool, got it!
again, the double round mirrors isn't my jam... and if you do manage to pull it off, it's with a vanity that is longer than you'll have. BUT notice the very affordable effect of a black painted wall and colorful rug in this space. CL: get what you're saying with the double round mirrors
what were you digging about this? niche? penny tile? (I like both! But think you should, for cost purposes, stay in the black and white tile families. This kind of wall tile is always more.) CL: loved all the tiled here, but agree on the cost effectiveness of the black/white. Loved the nook with pebble tile that matched the floor. SY: ok. Penny tile is an affordable option.
The blue is pretty but always more $$. I'd stick with black and white and wood - that ok by you? Same with brass: if you stick with chrome (I'd suggest chrome) you'll save and it will still be beautiful. CL: yep, ok by us
from your board. We could totally do something like this - the square white tile is very affordable and has a vintage and mod effect that subway (3x6") doesn't have. And the wood tub deck is great. This floor tile is reasonably priced (it's called Daltile Octagon Dot), but lots of grout is trouble. And a larger format tile will save money. CL: love everything here, even the little shelf. Again, we're torn between the subway and square tile. The floor tile is a fave, maybe for the flooring in the shower, not sure. SY: got it. I will work out specifics from among the variants you say you love.
Tell me why you pinned this? Round mirrors are tricky over double vanities - they look like portholes when they are multiplied. I love the black fixtures. Tile on walls is going to up your cost significantly. And I think we need solid floors with the pattern in the rug or other accents - again, for cost savings. CL: this one is more of a thought for our smaller bathrooms (that we'll eventually update). but still love the wood vanity, subway tile/dark grout, black fixtures even the fun floor pattern. And that little shelf! SY: right? I love a shelf.
This is from your pinterest. Tell me what you like. Light fixture? This floor rocks but much more affordable to do a large format dark gray tile. Maybe we could lay a 12x24 in herringbone to make it more interesting... CL: LOVE the vanity here, not practical for our need for storage, but gosh it's pretty. Not loving the fixture. Agree that we need to stick with a larger format flooring. SY: ok!
love this from your board. :) Tell me your thoughts about finishes - plumbing and towel rod and mirror and lighting colors. If we can stick with polished chrome plumbing, we'll save money. Black would be cool too - we just need to gauge cost. And mix in this kind of thing. CL: love this, I mean hexagon everything please. but again, hubby doesn't dig brass. I think if it were a subtle mix in like this he'd be ok. Whatever is the most cost effective is of course where we'll lean. But I'm all for having a mix of finishes SY: surely we can sneak in this little nod to your hex and brass. :) urban outfitters Hexagon Towel Ring
