Spatial Design Architects were contacted by our client via a recommendation from another consultant that we work with, our client’s former home was unfortunately burnt down with all contents and family possessions, due to these tragic circumstances they had to start again and wished to create a new contemporary home for their family. We were restricted by heights and volumes of the existing property due to its location within the metropolitan greenbelt. Design options were formulated from the clients brief, our vision for the architectural design was to maximise the natural light into the interior spaces, whilst providing stunning views of the garden creating a sense of connection to the environment. The concept included facades that protrude off the lower form to create an interesting architectural design, such as the overhangs on the south-west and north-east elevations. These help to control the heat gain and provide a crisp and linear aesthetic. The ground floor was designed to incorporate grey stone cladding that contrasts from the white render and timber cladding above. We introduced canopy areas to the rear for alfresco dining under and above the front door for those rainy days!
