This tiny eat-in kitchen just had one short line of 4 cabinets and a free-standing oven. To create an island and increase storage, bench space and charm in this little kitchen I introduced a gorgeous reclaimed workbench with timber and iron stools. The black and timber finish of the island created a pop of high contrast that added so much character and visual interest, and it was also very effective at drawing the eye away from the tired built-in cabinetry. This simple and cost effective solution turned a very ordinary kitchen into a space full of rustic country charm.
