Rain Shower with Niches - Maple Ridge, BC

Modern Bathroom, Vancouver

The owner built the shower niches by himself. We had to deal with the existing openings, therefore we decided to cut all the tiles. The left and the right tile have the same width. The middle tile is smaller. This gave us the possibility to line up the schluter profile with the vertical joint. Otherwise this joint would be "cut" the niche. The owner also tiled the bathroom floor by himself, therefore the floor tiles don't line up with the shower curb. A nicer looking solution would be to cut all tiles the same width and built just one bigger niche above the mixing valve with exact the size of one tile. In the middle of the niche could be a shelf as well to create two niches by deviding the niche in half. It would also look better to add a tile baseboard and caulk the joints between the baseboard and the floor with 100% silicone. - The shower is complete Waterproofed with Schluter Kerdi System. - All corners are caulked with 100% silicone in grout color. - Notice: At this photo, the shower isn't grouted jet.
